That's an office with 2 desks. I want to hire someone to work for me in the 2nd desk.

What these regulations mean is that as well as the office I now have to buy a fridge and to hire a 2nd office for the fridge/breastfeeding and allow that employee the time to feed as it suits her.

This is on top of maternity leave where I'd have to pay for an expensive contractor to cover her absence for up to a year as her job has to be kept open. Oh, and of course, she could then get knocked up during that period and be off 3 months later and do this again, and again, and again, making her contribution about worthless to the business, but I could do nothing legally about this.

Now, imagine you're someone running a business. You're borrowed 30-40K against your home to start this venture, and you want a return, so while you're a reasonably nice person, you're not running this as a charity for good causes. You have 2 candidates of similar abilities: a 26 year old recently married woman without children, or a 26 year old man.

Now, forget the questions of what the law says. It's a 1 man business so you'll never have any evidence to prove discrimination. Which do you think the businessman is going to hire?Tim Almondhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13369256383976094670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34128264.post-54837078977493596122010-11-29T09:48:43.770+00:002010-11-29T09:48:43.770+00:00Its not only the Daily Fail that gets things wrong...Its not only the Daily Fail that gets things wrong.

Lib Dem Moore admits tartan tax letter sent because of Scottish budget

Meanwhile, last week’s emergency debate exposed chaos and embarrassing confusion amongst Labour MSPs over their parties own position on the tartan tax prior to May 2007. SNP members reacted angrily when it emerged that the previous Labour/Lib Dem administration had taken a decision to ‘mothball’ the power in 2000.

We hope for a statement from Tavish to the Scottish people over misleading the nation for political point scoring.cynicalHighlanderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06034325908473006163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34128264.post-13326440385699141622010-11-28T14:15:49.784+00:002010-11-28T14:15:49.784+00:00I was in Rome a few weeks ago and noticed a couple...I was in Rome a few weeks ago and noticed a couple of times women breastfeeding their babies whilst walking around. One was on a normal street and the other was in the Colliseum. I suspect if I had been more observant I would have spotted it more too.

How refreshing, I thought for such a natural process to be socially accepted in public like this.

I fear we are a long way from that in this country. The fuss the Mail feels able to kick up about expressing-breaks sadly demonstrates it.Mark Thompsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00744387583593537268noreply@blogger.com
