Miriam urges Government to use valuable cord blood

Nick Clegg's wife, Miriam Gonzalez Durantes, has told how it was impossible for her to donate her newborn son's valuable cord blood, which could be used to treat people with such conditions as Leukaemia or for stem cell research to find longer term cures for serious conditions.

I share her frustration that we see this needless waste of something nature has given us for free. All the UK's Governments should be looking at this - expanding cord blood banks can't be that expensive and would surely be ultimately a net gain for the NHS.

Thanks for your comment. As long as it doesn't libel anyone, and isn't abusive, I'll publish it. I try to respond to as many as I can, but please forgive me if I don't. Sometimes there are just not enough hours in the day. I read and appreciate every one, even those specifically aimed at winding me up.
