One thing above all else depresses me about the furore over Prince Harry's racist remarks.
I don't think that he deliberately went out of his way to be gratuitously unpleasant. I have actually watched the video and he seems very comfortable and relaxed and didn't seem to be trying to upset anybody.
In the 21st century, it is clearly seen as acceptable to use racist and offensive language in the Army on a daily basis.
Isn't it time to do something about that?
In some ways, Prince Harry didn't ask for the role he was given, and I can almost understand him saying stuff it in public life, but as a member of the Armed Forces he should face disciplinary action for saying what he did.

the 21st century? well first off we came a long way from say... oh every century prior.
what depresses me about the henry fuss is we now attach racism to things beyond itentions. racism is defined as hate, but we stick it on anything now. you said it, he wasn't even intending to be harmful.
we live in a world where intentions and context mean nothing if someone decides they want to be offended. that's depressing. the meaning behind things are now irrelevant. it's like we're getting dumber and instead of interpreting anothers thoughts, words, etc. we just decide what we want to feel about something.
honeslty i thought henry's remarks weren't offensive at all.
an example: i have a black friend who doesn't mind if we refer to him as black in a humorous and i don't care if he makes fun of me for being white. it's much like a bonding moment.
it's sad that someone on the outside could take one of our comments out of context and declare it something it's not.
i really don't think henry ment anything by his comments.
sure there might be some ignorance there, but nothing racist.
