Was Ed Balls responsible for our slippery roads?
Maybe it's just the way my mind works, but when I saw this tweet from the soon to be doomed to defeat Ed Balls' Cheerleader-in-Chief, my first thought was to speculate that that was why nobody could get any grit for the roads last Winter - because he had it all.
I'm not sure grit, or abrasiveness, is a quality I relish in a political leader. I don't want them too slick or smooth or insincere either. We had enough of that with Tony Blair to last a lifetime. I just want politicians to be open, honest, genuine and willing to listen. Surely that isn't too much to ask for?
