AV - A Historical Perspective #yes2AV

The delightful Dan Snow cuts through the crap that's flying about  about AV - and tells us that this is a constitutional tweak we can happily embrace - a more modern, fairer and sophisticated way of electing our MPs.  I like also his contrast between people saying we're too stupid to count to 3 and expecting us to fill in extremely complex official forms.

Thanks Caron for posting the vid.

I am in a quandry with this AV stuff and was always happy with the 'first past the post' system (unless my party, labour) didn't get in...you can pause here to have a chuckle.

A certain event, and I know it is just one political issue, put me right off my lifelong love afair with them. That event was the smoking ban.

Now I see myself as a disenfranchised voter looking for a party that will address my concerns...and the LibDems are not it! The LibDems are a bastardised party that is neither liberal nor democratic and is nothing more than another incarnation of the labour party, remember the gang of four?

The Liberal party has always wanted some sort of PR in order to get their sticky fingers into the political pie so AV, suits them, that's why they have craved it for so long. That apart I am now looking seriously at AV, but nothing to do with the LD's.

It's Nigel Farage and the Independance Party I have in mind as they would fill my needs as a disenfranchised voting smoker.

I'm not having a go, just saying is all.
